Inseyet Films is dedicated to being the voice of untold stories. It was founded in 2009 with our first short film, Her Decision that made a very poignant statement about the stigma of living with HIV. It was featured in Canada on OMNI News and it was screened at the Public Health Agency of Canada to raise awareness around the challenges of living with HIV. The film is currently being used internationally as an educational tool, reaching as far as the United Nations Mission in Sudan and was screened at the International AIDS Conference, 2010 in Vienna.

Our second short film, Life Outside My Window was produced in 2011. It was fully funded by Abbott Virology; a pharmaceutical company that believed in our vision of using short films as a platform to challenge stigma and discrimination. It was also well received as a feature story on OMNI News and aired on Roger’s Television. Both short films maintained cultural sensitivity and explored diversity.

Our commitment to exploring untold stories that challenge the human condition paved the road to our next project. Our feature film, Dowry has sparked a buzz over the years of it being in-the-making. The story behind the screenplay became an article of interest in Fusia Magazine in 2010. It was also represented in ATN’s Hundred Years of Indian Cinema. The World Premiere of Dowry was at the Reelworld Film Festival, 2015. It won Best Film in the NRI (Non-Resident Indian) Category at the Delhi International Film Festival, 2015.

This growing collection of work, dedicated to tackling social issues, has earned Jag Parmar the Humanitarian of the Year Award, 2015 and an Award of Excellence from the Kshatriya Community of Toronto.
